KVS Admission 2026: Registration for Class 1 and Balvatika Opens Today

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has officially opened the registration window for admissions to the academic session 2026-27. Starting today, March 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM, parents and guardians can submit online applications for Class 1 and Balvatika (Levels 1, 2, and 3) through the official admission portal.

Key Admission Dates

To avoid the last-minute rush, parents are advised to keep track of the following crucial dates:

• Registration Start Date: March 20, 2026 (10:00 AM)

• Registration End Date: April 2, 2026 (11:59 PM)

• First Provisional Selection List (Balvatika): April 8, 2026

• First Provisional Selection List (Class 1): April 9, 2026

• Offline Registration for Class 2 onwards: April 2 to April 8, 2026 (Subject to availability)

Eligibility and Age Criteria

As per the updated KVS guidelines, the age of the child is calculated as of March 31, 2026. The requirements are:

• Class 1: Child must be at least 6 years old but less than 8 years. (Children born on April 1 are also eligible).

• Balvatika 1: 3 to 4 years.

• Balvatika 2: 4 to 5 years.

• Balvatika 3: 5 to 6 years.

Admission Process and Quota

Admissions for Class 1 are conducted via a computerized lottery system. There is no entrance test or interview for entry-level admissions. The KVS continues to uphold its reservation policy to support diverse sections of society:

• Right to Education (RTE): 25% of seats (10 seats per section of 40).

• SC/ST/OBC (NCL): 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, and 27% for OBC-NCL.

• Children with Special Needs (CwSN): 3% horizontal reservation.

• Single Girl Child (SGC): 2 seats per section.

How to Register

Parents can register their wards by visiting kvsonlineadmission.kvs.gov.in or using the KVS mobile app. You will need a digital photograph, birth certificate, and residence proof. For higher classes (Class 2 to 10), registration is offline and depends entirely on vacancies in specific schools. Admission lists for these classes will be displayed on April 13, 2026.

Note for Class 11: Registration for Class 11 will begin within 10 days of the declaration of Class 10 Board results.
